Dr. Debra Fink Offers State-Of-The-Art Treatment for TMD/TMJ
TMD (temporomandibular joint disorder) aka TMJ
TMD stands for Temporal Mandibular Disorder, which describes a problem with the lower jaw’s (mandible) connection to the temporal bone on the sides of the skull, which is immediately in front of the ear on both sides of the head. This hinge is commonly referred to as the jaw joint or the Temporal Mandibular Joint (TMJ).
These joints are flexible and allow the muscles in the face to move the lower jaw when you speak, yawn, chew and swallow. When these joints and muscles are not functioning properly, chronic pain may occur in the face, head, neck, shoulders and jaw joint.
One or more of the following may cause or contribute to TMD: ▪ grinding or clenching of the teeth, ▪ bad posture, ▪ sleeping patterns, ▪ trauma from falling, being in an accident or being struck, and/or ▪ arthritis or other illnesses.
Our revolutionary system involves no surgery, takes relatively few visits and requires the patient to have only one payment for assessment and then only medical co-pays for other visits that are necessary.
